The Saudi Federation has approved a new system for the Saudi Super Cup

Sports critic Tariq Nofal praised the Saudi Football Association’s new system for the Super Cup, which will allow four clubs to participate instead of two.

The Saudi Federation yesterday announced the change of the Super Cup system to allow the participation of 4 clubs, the champions and runners-up of the league and the cup, instead of just the champions. If the champion is repeated, the third team in the stands are invited.

Nofal expressed his admiration for the new system as it expands the scope of the competition and gives the championship more importance and value, noting that the new system presents an opportunity for zero season owners like Al-Nasr and Al-Shabab for their season.

He told the “Action with Walid” program: “The new super system is a really nice idea that increases the competitiveness in the tournament, and we have seen how the Spanish Super has gotten better with this system.”

He continued: “The new system will also be an opportunity for zero season owners, such as Al-Nassr and Al-Shabab, to save their season. It is true that the target may be commercial, but this remains good because it will the importance of football and the fun and excitement of the tournament.”

Remarkably, Al Hilal holds the Saudi Super Cup title, where in the latest version it was crowned by penalties at the expense of Al-Faisaly.

Al-Hilal, Al-Fayha and Al-Ittihad guaranteed qualification for the next edition of the Saudi Super Cup, while Al-Nasr and Al-Shabab battle for fourth and last place.
