His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan crowned the UAE national team with second place in the Muay Thai World Cup, and the youth team with first place at the end of competitions yesterday in Abu Dhabi. The crowning of the UAE national team star Elias Habib with the gold under 81 kg concluded the tournament, in which the state champions achieved unprecedented achievements in the game for both men and women.
700 male and female players from 100 countries took part in the tournament, which was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) and saw 439 matches played.
Thailand led the overall standings with 15 colored medals including 8 golds, 5 silvers and 2 bronzes, while the UAE team took second overall with 12 medals including 5 golds, 4 silvers and 3 bronzes, and Morocco in third place.
The brilliance of the UAE champions and especially the youth team came to the country 5 years after the birth of the game federation, which increases the value of the achievement.
The final day’s matches witnessed Moroccan Youssef Asawik taking the gold in the under 71 kg weight category, and Iranian Massoud Al-Malki taking the gold in the under 63 kg weight category, beating Thai Surawit .
The tournament concluded with the meeting of our international player Elias Habib Ali (the ring tiger) with the Moldovan champion Artyom Livadari for the gold in the weight category under 81 kg, resulting in the victory of the gold champion, who added a second world gold for him after the Mexico Medal in 2018.
At the beginning of the coronation ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a souvenir from Prasan and Ingratana, representative of the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, the guest of the tournament. The tournament, where the first winners were awarded colored medals.
