Emily Miller has revealed she had an ectopic pregnancy just weeks after finding out she was pregnant with her first child.
The Too Hot To Handle star, 27, had discovered that she and her boyfriend Cam Holmes, 26, who also appeared on the show, were pregnant shortly before collapsing while shopping.
Emily shared a series of photos and videos of herself in the hospital, telling her followers, “So a few weeks ago I found out I was pregnant. While it was a shock, it was also something I was really excited about.
“But Tuesday I collapsed while I was in the shops. I can’t even describe the pain – it felt like my whole stomach was collapsing and being rushed to the hospital.”
Emily waited in the ER until 3:00 p.m. the next day when she got a scan and found the two nurses in the room completely silent before getting someone else for a second opinion.
Then it was discovered that she had an ectopic pregnancy, meaning the fertilized egg implanted outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube, meaning it is not possible to save the pregnancy and could lead to serious complications.
She continued, “If I had let it sit much longer, my fallopian tube would burst. It’s one of those things that you think will never happen to you. I was just so scared.
Not only was I about to lose my baby, but I was about to have my fallopian tube removed with the potential of my ovary as well. I just wanted to talk to my mother and I’m pretty sure I scared all the poor women in that waiting room with my crying.”
Emily revealed: “Wednesday at 10pm I had surgery and I don’t know who was crying more, me or Cam, but I was extremely emotional to say the least.
“I had asked Cam for a list of food and drink for when I got back, but I had a panic attack when I woke up. I was given morphine because I was in so much pain that I felt nauseous and had to go to sleep right away.
“After a few more blood tests and a little breakfast, I was discharged yesterday afternoon. Physically I am still in a lot of pain and I am bedridden after the surgery, but mentally it has been even more difficult.
“When I think back on it, I absolutely ignored the signs my body was trying to tell me early on about my ectopic pregnancy. I can only encourage girls to get an early pregnancy scan just to be sure to rule out any problems.’
