AgriCensus-Dnipro grain market observer Masha Belikova says Ukraine has still “blocked” its deep-sea ports, causing problems for grain transportation out of the country.
Ukraine is the world’s fourth largest grain exporter and there are concerns that a shortage could endanger global food security.
“Russia says they are not blocking, but while their navy is still in our waters, and they are still attacking our cities in Odessa…so as if we don’t believe they will let us move our ships and not attack if we get the – my waters,” Ms Belikova told Sky News Australia.
“Speaking of this year, of course there is already a huge shortage of grains – wheat, maize, sunflower seeds, oils too – because Ukraine is a huge exporter of those grains and right now our logistics just can’t handle the same volumes. like before.”
