We failed to manage the events of the Champions League final

Paris Police Chief Didier Lalmeau admitted yesterday that police “failed” to manage the events that took place in the Champions League final on May 28 between Liverpool and Real Madrid at the National Stadium in the capital, due to the damage some fans and insulting the image of France.

He added during a parliamentary session that he was “solely responsible” for the actions of the police, saying: “We did not manage the events of the European final.” This is in addition to the case of “false tickets”, which caused the events.

The start of the match, which Real Madrid won 1-0, was delayed more than 30 minutes after security personnel were forced to prevent people from entering the stadium as riot police fired tear gas at fans, including women and children.
