Real Madrid’s Croatian Luka Modric spoke of Mbappe’s preference to stay at Paris Saint-Germain rather than move to the Spanish capital, admitting he was hurt by the departure of his former captain Sergio Ramos.
Mbappe announced the extension of his contract with the Paris team until 2025, after coming around the corner from defending the “Merengue” colors.
Modric said in statements to the Croatian newspaper “Sportski Novosti”: This is his decision and he has the freedom to choose and he must wear it, we all thought he would come, but it did not happen, we will not torture the man in the end.
He continued: Mbappe is a great player, but there is no player more important than Real Madrid, this club is bigger than anything.
About Ramos’ departure, Luca said: “It is of course a painful feeling, we have shared many beautiful moments over the past 9 years.
Modric played 45 games with his team in all competitions this season, winning the European Champions League, the Spanish League and the Spanish Supercup.
