The nickname “J.Lo” may soon be gone, now Jennifer Lopez and long lasting love ben Affleck have finally taken the plunge.
The wedding, which is arguably 20 years in the making, took place on July 16, 2022 in Las Vegas. In addition, Lopez has officially adopted Affleck’s last name.
Fans have wholeheartedly embraced the news, and in their excitement, they have come across an incredibly sweet old interview that some say has predicted the future.

‘It was meant to be’
According to court documents, Lopez has officially adopted Affleck as her new last name.
an entry in Clark County Clerk’s Online Registry reveals J.Lo’s decision and was first noticed online.
The record shows that the singer has officially changed her name to “Jennifer Affleck”.
Shortly after a photo of the record went viral online, Lopez confirmed the news that she was married on social media, but did not comment on her name change, although she did. sign her newsletter announcement as “Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck”.
Now elated fans have unearthed an incredibly sweet video that depicts a young J.Lo talking candidly about her engagement and future wedding to Affleck.
The video (which you can view above), is an old Admission to Hollywood 2002 or 2003 interview with celebrity interviewer Pat O’Brien.
O’Brien and Lopez can be seen in her kitchen, where the star is beating eggs to make her breakfast.
O’Brien suddenly decides to pressure Lopez over the issue of her iconic name change.
“I want to know what your name will be a week after you get married?” he asks.
At the time, Lopez and Affleck were planning to get married in September 2003. Unfortunately, it was a wedding they decided to postpone, due to the overwhelming media frenzy their marriage caused.
“Jennifer Lopez, but of course my name will be Jennifer Affleck,” Lopez says without a fight. ‘J. Aff… doesn’t sound quite the same, but…’ she adds jokingly.
Fans now love the video, with some claiming that it predicted the future.
“Fortune teller legend,” one person tweeted.
“They are an OTP [one true pair]’ spurted another.
A third replied: “It was meant to be!!!”
When did Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck start dating?
Lopez and Affleck met in 2002 on the set of lilies. Lopez was married to dancer Cris Judd at the time, but the notebook was on the wall and nine months after their marriage she filed for divorce.
Media attention went into overdrive when Lopez and Affleck confirmed their relationship. The high-profile couple was quickly dubbed “Bennifer” by the press, and every move was watched and documented.
The pair turned even more attention when Affleck – who was known as a jeans and T-shirt type man – suddenly appeared on red carpets, looking polished from head to toe.

Hollywood’s new couple starred in the aforementioned lilies together. The studio had high hopes for the crime comedy, but it flopped at the box office and was panned by critics and fans alike. The film made just $9 million on its opening weekend.
They teamed up again for the rom-com jersey girlwhich was released in 2003, but also delivered disappointing figures.
A memorable project in which they played together was Lopez’s music video “Jenny From the Block,” released at the height of their romance in 2002. The song reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US.
The actor – complete with gentle makeover – made a cameo in the clip, mocking the media attention to their relationship. In the video, they were seen driving around LA with paparazzi on their tails, also lounging on a yacht as photographers clicked away.
“If I have a big regret, it was making the music video,” Affleck said in a 2008 interview. “But that happened years ago. I’ve moved on.’
When did Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck get engaged?
Two months after the ‘Jenny From the Block’ music video premiered in September 2002, Affleck proposed to Lopez wearing a 6.1-carat pink diamond Harry Winston ring. The price tag? A reported $3.2 million.
In an interview with Apple Music in April 2020, Lopez reflected on her engagement, telling host Zane Lowe that her ring was admired by many, including the legendary singer Barbra Streisand.
“I met her at an Oscar party years ago, and I was engaged to Ben Affleck at the time, and she really likes diamonds, which I didn’t know,” Lopez recalls. “He had given me a pink diamond, which got a lot of press and whatever. Loved getting it, don’t get me wrong.
“So she came up to me, and like, she’s heard about it. I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’ And she says, “Can I see your ring?” And she asked me about the ring, but then she asked me – and I thought it was so strange – about being famous, and how I deal with it.”
The engaged couple had made plans to walk down the aisle in Santa Barbara in September 2003, but postponed their plans days before the big day due to “excessive media attention.”
“We have decided to postpone the date,” they confirmed in a statement at the time. “When we seriously considered hiring three separate ‘decoys’ in three different locations, we realized something was wrong.
“We began to feel that the spirit of what should have been the happiest day of our lives could be in jeopardy. We felt that what should have been a joyful and holy day could be spoiled for us, our families and our friends .”
Why did Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck split up?
In January 2004, four months after postponing their wedding, the couple broke off their engagement and separated for good.
“I confirm the message that Jennifer Lopez has ended her engagement to Ben Affleck,” her representative said in a statement at the time. “During this difficult time, we ask that you respect her privacy.”
It was widely reported that one of the reasons for the split was that the constant media attention was getting too much for Affleck.
“I think Jen and I made a mistake because we fell in love, we were excited and maybe too approachable,” he later explained. “I don’t think any of us expected it to become a world of its own.”

Lopez also reflected on the relationship in her 2014 memoir Real love.
“It felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest,” she wrote. “And then the realization that I wasn’t going to have the fairytale family I wanted really kicked in, well, that’s when I really started to fall apart.”
Months after the split, Affleck began dating his daredevil co-star Jennifer Garnerwhile Lopez turned to singer Marc Anthony. They would marry in a backyard ceremony five months after her divorce from the actor.
In 2005, Affleck and Garner made it official at a ceremony in Turks and Caicos. Garner was reportedly three months pregnant with the couple’s first child, Violet, now 15. They also share daughter Seraphina, 12, and son Samuel, nine.
In 2008, Lopez and Anthony welcomed their twins, Emme and Max, now 13. When the twins were nearly three, Lopez and Anthony announced their separation. Affleck and Garner are also no longer together and broke up in 2015 after 10 years of marriage.
