The winter school holidays are almost upon us and rest assured that all of Melbourne is gearing up for a packed holiday packed with the most terrifyingly fun and exciting events imaginable!

So to make sure you don’t miss out on the fun, we’ve put together this mega list of Melbourne CBD school holiday events and activities for the winter school holidays, including free, low-cost events and family attractions.

The winter holiday this year runs from Saturday 24 June to Sunday 3 July 2022.

  • Melbourne Magic Festival (Mon 27th June – Sat 9th July) – See over 130 performances from 30 different shows including top international magicians from across Australia
  • Nerdflix and Chill: Back to the Future (Tue, June 28) – Come and watch Back to the Future in the Alienware Arena on the huge arena screen.
  • Tinseltown: Xmas In July (Fri Jul 1 – Sun Jul 31) – Experience the ultimate European Christmas spirit without even boarding!

  • Pond[er] NGV (until Sun 28 Aug) A stunning architectural installation, replete with a pink pond reminiscent of Australia’s outback salt lakes, has been selected as the winner of NGV’s 2021 Architecture Commission in the Grollo Equiset Garden at NGV International. NGV Pink Pond review
  • GAIA By Luke Jerram (until Sun 26th June) – an awe-inspiring art installation that allows guests to gaze at Earth as if they were from space!

  • Arts Center Sunday Market (Sunday) – find unique, quirky and handmade items at the stalls. There is always something delicious too!
